Before You Get Started

Welcome to SoundExchange's Online Registration. We're eager to get you started! To fast-track your registration experience, you may find it helpful to gather these items and have them handy before you dive into our form:

  • PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

    A government-issued photo ID of the artist(s) you
    want to register
  • VOIDED CHECK

    A voided check from the account you'd like us to send your money to (if you choose to be paid by direct deposit)
  • TAX ID NUMBER

    The Federal SSN or TIN for the individual or business
    that is getting paid.

Online registration works best with Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers. If you only have access to Internet Explorer, please call Customer Support for assistance at 1-800-961-2091.

Part of the registration process involves claiming repertoire for the artist or rights owner that you are registering with us. You'll have the option to either claim tracks through our portal, or to report all your tracks to us directly by completing and uploading our repertoire form.

We suggest that you download and fill out our repertoire form before you begin registration IF:

  • You have an extensive repertoire (500+ tracks) that you believe are getting online air play / are due performance royalties
  • The tracks in the registering artist or rights owner's repertoire aren't currently receiving any online air play, but you believe they will be in the near future.

Please note: the SoundExchange registration process will allow you to register multiple artists at one time, but each registration creates only a single payment account. If you need to be paid to different bank accounts for different artist or payee names, then you'll need to register each of those accounts separately.
